more and more stripping and cleaning

Got started on removing the wheels. The dirt 're-appeared' so we'll have to give it another good clean.

cleaning round 2

With another week comes another round of cleaning. Things are starting to look very clean. We are even cleaning the underneath of the car. Bernice was supposed to clean the inside, but she ended up cleaning the underneath as well.

cleaning, yes, i said cleaning!

Round 1, after painting the whole car in diesel things got quite messy, and the car got clean. There was still quite a bit of a oil build up, but for day 1, we did quite well.

The mini also moved into its new home. John built a carport. No more sun.

final strip before the cleaning

Eventually we just cut all the wires out. A car that looks very clean, no more wires, sponge or glass.

the engine is free

It's such a small engine, but it still feels really heavy.

interior inspection

It looks messy, it is messy, lots of glue, glass and wires. Including loads of sponge, which is really hard to get off.

a real strip show!

First Task: Strip everything!
Its a first for me, buy a car then destroy it. We started with removing all the chrome parts, followed by everything else on the exterior. Then literally ripped out the interior. It took 2 weeks to remove 90%.

collection & inspection

My 1971 Mini - Day 1. Towing the little bugger was fun. Once we got it to the 'workshop' we inspected the car and the damage. The engine is in running condition and the damage report: Not to much considering it's a 35 year old car. A couple of dents and some rust damage in the boot. I wasn't worried about the interior because the whole lot was coming out.
